  1. My smile map of Athens starts from a long walk at Lykabetous mountain (having a dog with makes it all the better), if you walk up to the church on the top, or even a bit before the church, you start seeing 180 degree views of the whole of Attiki, my favorite is facing the sea, where you can see Piraeus and the boats.

Walking down from Lykabetous towards Kolonaki, a small pit stop to pick up a coffee from the plethora of coffee shops, and walk down towards Syndagma Square. From there another beautiful urban nature walk is at the 'Ethnikos Kipos', National Gardens.

From Syndagma Square I sometimes walk up to the old town under the acropolis called Anafiotika, it is built much like an island's mountain Hora or main town and it makes you feel like you are somewhere in the Cyclades with incredible views of Athens.

I have many more smile walks in Athens, but this one combines Athens with escapism, something much needed in all cities!
